We are currently researching the history of Ashfield House.

We recently featured in the Wigan Observer to appeal for information from those who have an information. If you remember anything about Ashfield House or have heard and of the history then we would love to hear from you.

We are working with the Wigan and Leigh archives to compile as much info as possible but I find the things most interesting are the small details which, if not documented now will be lost.

I intend to publish everything I find out here for all to see. I have enjoyed this research immensely and its fascinating to talk to people who remember the house being requisitioned during the war, the Quaker's who ran the house and gardens, the gardeners who tended the fine Italian inspired gardens in its hey day as a private home and all those who brought their babies to the clinic!
