Ashfield House is a charming
Victorian country house built in the 1870's
for a wealthy merchant and mill owner. Prime
Minister Gladstone was a guest at Ashfield
House when Liberal MP for Wigan, John Lancaster,
was owner. It is a fine example of the craftmanship
of the era, which has seen many glorious days.
Since its conversion into a hotel and restaurant
in the early 1990's it has established a first
class reputation for fine food and wine, with
a beautiful restauant and banqueting suite
serving freshly cooked classical English cuisine
with an innovative twist.
There are fifteen individually furnished en-suite
bedrooms, residents bar, air-conditioned conference
suites and facilities for private dining.
The ambience is very much country house, the
aim is to provide a flexible and individually
tailored service with a touch of informality,
allowing guests to experience the enjoyment
of using Ashfield House as it it were their
home. MORE
